Riders/Parents Expectations

Please arrive for your lessons at least 15 minutes early to allow time to get yourself and your horse prepared for the lesson and allow time after the lesson to take care of your horse if needed. Riders will receive a riding lesson per week that aligns with the package you have selected, this lesson will be a private 30/60-minute session in the beginning until the instructor recommends the rider is ready to join the appropriate group.

Riders Attire

We expect our riders to take responsibility and pride in themselves and how they walk out and into the arena for each lesson. This includes the rider being responsible for their belongings and their horse - NOT the parent. Any boot with a one-inch heel, long pants, and one of our helmets are acceptable for the first month of lessons. After these initial lessons, riders must purchase the correct riding attire listed below:

  • Zip-front paddock boots or Cowboy Boots
  • Properly fitted ASTM/SEI-approved helmet
  • We require bootcut riding jods , Hunter breeches or Boot Cut Jeans
  • Underpasses (elastic tie-down that holds your pants down while riding)
  • Riding gloves are recommended for all seasons

Lesson Cancellation & Make Up Policy

Careful planning goes into scheduling lessons, coordinating instructors, and reserving horses for each rider. Riders are expected to attend scheduled lessons and arrive on time to ensure the smooth operation of the program.

Lesson cancellations for any reason must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time. Failure to provide 24-hour notice, or failure to attend a scheduled lesson, will result in a No Show, and the lesson will be forfeited from the rider’s package.

Students are allowed one make-up lesson per month, provided the lesson is canceled within the required notice period.

Cancellations must be submitted via email or texting your Instructor

Northern Nevada Riding Academy reserves the right to permanently release a rider’s scheduled lesson time and reassign it to another student if that time slot is canceled more than three times or on a recurring basis.

If the Academy must cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be arranged at a mutually agreeable time.

Compensation & Payment Terms

All lesson packages and program fees must be paid in full in advance prior to the start of any lesson, class, or program. Payment secures your scheduled lesson time and placement within the program.

A minimum of 10 days’ notice is required to cancel or make changes to lesson packages or scheduled lesson appointment times. Cancellations or changes made with less than the required notice may result in forfeiture of the lesson or package.

No Refund Policy

All purchases are non-refundable. Once a lesson package or program is purchased, no refunds will be issued for unused lessons, no shows or early withdrawal from the program. This includes situations in which a rider chooses not to attend remaining lessons in a purchased package.

Please refer to the Makeup Policy section for information regarding missed lessons and eligibility for make-up scheduling.
